Mother’s Day Wildflower & Birding Weekend Saturday and Sunday May 10 & 11, 2008 10:00 am - 5:00 pm LOCATION: South Falls Lodge and surrounding day use area WHAT: Learn about the many native wildflowers that call Silver Falls home, and about the many birds that stop at Silver Falls during their migrations. Participate in hands-on displays activities, birding & plant walks, photography hikes, and presentations. View plant displays and take home your own native plants during our plant sale. Take advantage of our free one-night camping in regular tent and RV campsites! Day Use fees are also waived this day only. SPONSORED BY: Oregon State Parks, Silver Falls State Park, Friends of Silver Falls and Silverton Runners Club COST: Day-use fees are waived. Regular campsites are free (overnight registration required; call 1-800-452-5687). Registration fee required for foot race. Activities include living history demonstrations, live music and presentations given by Al’s grandson, Mike Faussett, featuring original footage of the stunt. Learn about constellations, nebulas, and other heavenly sights. View them through many different sizes and styles of telescopes. SPONSORED BY: Night Sky 45 Astronomy Club and Silver Falls State Park COST: $3.00 per vehicle day use fee, otherwise there is no charge. Learn how the park changes during the winter. Enjoy storytelling for kids and music from the RoundHouse Band. Special appearances by JR Beaver and Santa.
