Here are 3 suggested quick hikes to enjoy with your four-legged friends:

  1. Rim Trail

  • Distance: 4.2 miles (round trip)

  • Configuration: out and back

  • Difficulty: easy

  • Elevation gain: 100 ft

  • Trailheads: South Falls Historic District/Stone Circle or North Falls Trailhead parking lot

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Hike through a temperate rainforest among majestic Douglas-fir, moss-covered vine maples, and a sea of salal and sword ferns.

  • The entire trail might be too long for an hour but a good trail to adjust the turn-around point to fit your pace and time frame

  • A great view of North Falls

  • Combine with Upper North Falls Trail to add a waterfall experience (5 mile round trip total)

 
 

2. upper north falls

  • Distance: 0.6 miles (round trip)

  • Configuration: out and back

  • Difficulty: easy

  • Elevation gain: none

  • Trailhead: North Falls trailhead parking lot

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • The only waterfall in the park with a pool where swimming is allowed

  • access to the backcountry trails (40+ miles of trail systems!)

  • Not officially ADA but a fairly flat, even trail

 
 
 
 

3. nature trail loop

  • Distance: 1 mile

  • Configuration: loop

  • Difficulty: easy

  • Elevation gain: none

  • Trailhead: campground

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • a wetland area with beaver activity sometimes visible

  • look through the bird blind for wildlife activity

  • a great place for fall leaf color in the fall, wildflowers in the spring, or edible berries in the summer
